Commemoration of the Parinirvana

Commemoration of the Parinirvana

Sunday 1 February 1:30pm – 4:45pm

This full moon day marks the anniversary of the Buddha’s passing or Parinirvana. It is an opportunity to reflect on the significance of that momentous event and to contemplate our own mortality, in a positive way of course, with the light of the Dharma.

There will be readings from the Pali canon and meditation with time to reflect. We shall conclude with a memorial puja where you are invited to bring along a photo of anyone known to you who has died in the last year. Names provided will be read out during the puja.

The morning’s Silent Sunday Meditation will be an excellent prelude to the afternoon’s activity, and those attending the morning are invited to stay on for the afternoon.

Friends wishing to join for the puja only, please arrive at the Centre at 3pm. See the programme below for further details.
