Into The Wild
Saturday 24 January 2026 – Sunday 1 February 2026
Start the year with an immersive experience of nature and dharma practice. The retreat will be loosely structured to allow time for space and reflection on the upcoming year. The idea is to start the day with a double sit, and end with a puja (ritual). The daily programme will be determined in a collective manner, with as much structure or freedom as the participants feel like, including time for swimming, canoeing and hiking.
The retreat will be held on two unpowered campsites along the beautiful Glenelg River, in the company of kangaroos and other native wildlife. Campsites include non-potable water, non-flush toilets, fireplace, and picnic tables. Camp kitchen, hot shower, and shrine area will be provided — you just need a tent (we have one spare if needed).
All food will be provided and cooked by Carolyn and Pearl.
Led by Maitrijata and Apada.

Where is the retreat being held?
The retreat is being held at Battersby Camp in Lower Glenelg National Park, Victoria. The campsite is roughly 5 hours drive (420km from Melbourne, 490km from Adelaide). If you can't drive yourself, the nearest train station we can pick you up from is Warrnambool.

Food and accommodation are included in the price.
The cost has been kept to a minimum, and the retreat leader and organisers are volunteers.

It’s important that you be there for the whole retreat, so that you and others can get the most out of the experience. If that won’t be possible, please get in touch with us before booking.
What will the food be like?
As part of our commitment to non-violence, we offer vegan food on our retreats.
If you have dietary restrictions not listed on the booking form, do let us know.

What should I bring?
You'll need to bring your own tent and sleeping gear.
Make sure also to bring any medication and toiletries you need, including a towel.
Since we discourage the use of mobile phones, you might find it helpful to bring a torch and a watch. A notebook and pen might also come in handy.
Depending on the weather, you might want to bring sun protection, hiking shoes, and insect repellent. A water bottle will also be useful.
For the adventurous, you might like to bring equipment for kayaking, canoeing or surfing.
