Thursday Night – Meditation and Pilgrimage Stories with Aryapala
Thursday July 28, 2022 , 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Everyone is welcome on Thursday Night with drop-in meditation classes at 7pm for regular meditators and an intro class for those with no meditation experience. Learn to meditate with instruction and guidance from an experienced meditation practitioner while meditating with others.
From 8pm, Aryapala will be sharing images and stories from his pilgrimage through the Shikoku Islands of Japan.

(Aryapala is pictured wearing the Henro’s iconic white tunic as a shroud; staff as a gravestone; hat as a coffin; and Kesa as a robe.)
“Pilgrimage is a very important and effective practice in Buddhism; it prepares you for death – literal and spiritual. Shikoku Island’s roads and mountain passes are littered with a thousand years of pilgrims’ unmarked graves and shrines to Buddhist saints, full of miraculous powers. Circling the island, one visits 88 temples founded by Master Kūkai, the 8th century Japanese esoteric Buddhist Master.
I invite you to take a pilgrimage in imagination with me this Thursday, accompanied with a slideshow of photos, and an enthusiasm for Japan. Please do come, if just out of curiosity for Buddhism, hiking, or new cultures.”
Venue: Melbourne Buddhist Centre/ 23 David Street/ Brunswick
All Welcome – No Booking Necessary: $15/ $8 Concession
Please note: You must be fully vaccinated and able to show evidence when attending events at the MBC. The Victorian Government strongly recommends for face masks to be worn indoors.
