Conditioned Production – A Creative Zoom Presentation
Wednesday October 27, 2021 , 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Join us for an immersive online presentation from Matteo Preabianca, an Italian artist and Mitra from the Glasgow sangha, as he shares his creative work exploring the 12 causal links of pratitya-samutpada (dependent origination).
This multimedia project is being presented to 12 Triratna centres around the world, with a specific link for each sangha – in Melbourne, we will be focusing on vedana (feeling). Listeners are invited to record their voice singing along, or reciting the poems provided, and send the recording to be mixed with other listener’s contributions on an evolving album.
“Each of these links will be represented through fading animal paintings, songs and poems. We decided to use endangered animals, matched with a human figure, as a metaphor to show how an extinguished feeling contains both positive and negative sides. Even the music follows a certain Buddhist path: going from East to West, from South to North. But explaining too much is a tedious habit. Everybody should form their own opinion about this work. We hope you will remember these animals. They might not be among us in a few years time. Like our Conditioned Production.”
