Rich Batsford Piano Concert
Saturday October 5, 2019 , 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Adelaide’s pianist and composer Rich Batsford has been meditating and practicing Triratna Buddhism for fourteen years and is training to become an Order Member. Seeing music making as an expression of his spiritual practice, Rich began composing and performing original meditative solo piano music. Most of his influences are classical, but his music also has a contemporary flavour and is very accessible.
With ‘In Transience’, Rich aims to open a space for enjoyment, reflection and connection and most of all, an experience of beauty. Impermanence often gets a bad rap, but without it there could be no wonder, love or positive change. With recent releases via Sonder House, an American record label, following on from a re-recording of his debut album, Rich’s recorded music is reaching ever wider audiences having been played several times on ABC Classic FM and streamed online over a million times.
Rich will be joined by special guest Christina Higham, a Victorian pianist and composer whose music is informed by memories of her rural childhood, the Australian landscape and questions about our human experience.
Saturday 5 October, 3.30pm to 4.30pm a the Melbourne Buddhist Centre
