Men’s Weekend Retreat – The Quest for Freedom

Friday April 5, 7:30 pm - Sunday April 7, 3:00 pm

“Just as the mighty ocean has but one taste, the taste of salt, even so the Dharma has but one taste, the taste of Freedom.” (Uposatha Sutta, Udana 5.5)

The Buddha once described the Dharma life as being like a vast ocean. An ocean that gently sloped before suddenly dropping to unknown depths. An ocean that contains magnificent treasures and jewels. An ocean that contains great beasts and monsters. And an ocean that had just one taste: vimukti (freedom, liberation).
On this retreat, exploring these themes as elucidated by Sangharakshita in a celebrated lecture from 1979, we will venture out from the safe, familiar predictable shores of our known world and dive head-first into this great mysterious ocean that the Buddha describes. And, through meditation, ritual, talks and discussion, quest for the taste of freedom.

Join Dhammakumara on this weekend retreat for men. Build connection with like-minded men and practice as a community looking at freedom in the Buddhist context. How does Buddhist practice bring freedom?

Suitable for men that are familiar with our meditation practices.
